Public Sea Lake Airstrip Meeting
Monday 27 May
7pm
Sea Lake Community Centre
…
Advance Sea Lake Inc is holding a community meeting, and have provided us with some information, having an air strip that is safe and in working order is very important for our community.
Did you know? The Sea Lake Airstrip is uncertified and is unmaintained by Council and has been for some years
All other major towns in the Buloke Shire have certified and maintained airstrips which enable fixed wing aircraft to land, Sea Lake do not have this option.
Planes currently land on the Sea Lake Airstrip at their own risk.
Helicopters can land on the footy ground if a Helicopter is available which is not always the case.
However, not all patients can be transported by helicopter this means some patients are driven to Swan Hill then flown to Melbourne so this means delayed treatment and risk of poor outcomes.
The airstrip situation is also impacting on CFA and agronomy pilots, scenic flight operators and businesses in Sea Lake.
To summarise this Northern end of the Shire has inequitable access to emergency services including CFA and Ambulance.
ASL INC are facilitating a meeting to discuss this important matter with the community and stake holders and proposes to form a sub committee to investigate options and develop a plan to source funding to upgrade the Sea Lake Airstrip to increase safety, compliance and accessibility.
Please show your concern for the state of the Airstrip by attending the meeting.
All interested community members and stake holders are welcome.
